Mikala Sweater – Isager Archives 2
De nieuwe Isager Archives 2 collectie duikt dit keer in de rijke ontwerpgeschiedenis van de jaren ’80 en ’90. Marianne Isager’s imposante archief vormde het startpunt voor 15 van Deense topontwerpers, die tijdens een ontwerpweekend in Tversted inspiratie mochten putten uit haar originele patronen.
Eén van die designers is Lene Holme Samsøe (Le Knit). Voor de Mikala Sweater liet ze zich direct betoveren door het grafische karakter van Marianne’s oorspronkelijke ontwerp Tværs. De combinatie van motief en strepen gaf een krachtige, bijna monochrome uitstraling.
Aanvankelijk wilde Lene dicht bij het originele patroon blijven en vooral spelen met vorm. Maar halverwege haar proefversie besloot ze het ontwerp open te breken. Ze verkleinde het motief, liet meer hoofdkleur toe en creëerde zo een zachtere, meer luchtige textuur. Die kleine aanpassing gaf de trui ineens een haast Scandinavische, fisherman-style vibe – subtiel, modern en tijdloos tegelijk.
Het resultaat is de Mikala Sweater:
een understated Nordic klassieker met een speels patroon dat uitnodigt tot verrassende kleurcombinaties.
Garen gebruikt in het ontwerp
Voor de Mikala Sweater wordt gewerkt met een prachtige Isager-mix voor een lichte, luchtige maar toch stevige structuur:

Isager Silk Mohair – de zachte halo die Mikala haar elegante zweem geeft

Isager Spinni – het traditionele, fijne wolgaren dat alles prachtig stabiliseert
Deze garens samen zorgen voor die typisch Scandinavische look die zowel stoer als verfijnd is.
De kit (maat M-XL) bestaat uit:

- Isager Spinni
- het patroon is NIET inbegrepen, maar kun je via de website van Lene Holme Samsœ downloaden.
Je kunt eenvoudig het aantal bollen aanpassen. Liever een andere kleur kijk dan bij onze andere Isager garens.

Size guide
Mikala Sweater is designed to have approx. 12-18 cm [4.75-7”] of positive ease. The sweater is shown with approx. 18 cm [7”] of positive ease. Find your personal bust circumference by measuring around your chest (or the largest part of your upper body). Then look at the measurements above (these are the finished measurements of the sweater). Positive ease is the difference between your personal measurement and the sweater’s measurement. For example, if your bust circumference is 94 cm [37”], a size M will give you a positive ease of 14 cm [5.5”] (108 cm – 94 cm = 14 cm) [42.5”- 37” = 5.5”]

The pattern color consists of 2 strands of Isager Spinni and 1 strand of Isager Silk Mohair. You can also use the same combination as for the main color, i.e. 1 strand of Isager Tweed and 1 strand of Isager Silk Mohair.
CONSTRUCTION
Mikala sweater is worked from the top down. The neckband is added last. At first a section is worked with the main color, where the neckline is shaped using short rows – first across each sleeve, then along each front section. Raglan increases are worked at the same time as the short rows. The yoke is then worked in the round in pattern with raglan increases, before the body and sleeves are worked separately. All the colorwork is worked in the round from the right side.
RECOMMENDED NEEDLES
Circular needle 3 mm and 3,5 mm, 40 cm [US 2.5 and US 4, 16”].
Circular needle 4 mm, 80 cm [US 6, 32”].
Circular needles 4,5 mm, 40 and 80 cm [US 7, 16 and 32”].
Double pointed needles 3,5 mm [US 4] (unless you use the magic loop method).
GUAGE
20 sts x 28 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm on 4,5 mm needles [4 x 4” with US 7 needles].
Wash the swatch before measuring the gauge.
